Bomb blast near Egypt intel building wounds four

http://newsduet.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/index8.jpeg
A bomb went off near a military intelligence building in northern Egypt on Sunday, wounding four soldiers, the army said. The explosion occurred in the Sharqiya province in the Nile Delta and destroyed the front compound wall of the building, the army said in a statement. The blast comes after Egypt was hit by two attacks in less than a week. On Tuesday, a suicide car bomber killed 15 people at a police building in Mansoura, north of Cairo. And on Thursday a bomb in Cairo wounded five people on a bus. The army said today’s attack was a “continuation of cowardly terrorist acts”. The day after the Mansoura attack, which was claimed by al-Qaeda-inspired jihadists, Egypt’s military-installed authorities accused the Muslim Brotherhood of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and listed it as a “terrorist organisation”. But the Brotherhood said in a statement that “it is innocent of any violent incident that has (been) or will be committed”. The designation means hundreds of thousands of members of the Islamist organisation now face prison sentences if they hold demonstrations or are found in possession of Brotherhood recordings or literature. Since Morsi’s ouster by the military on July 3, security forces have launched a crackdown on the group, that has seen more than 1,000 people killed and thousands of the toppled president’s backers arrested. Despite the repression, there have been several demonstrations across Egypt in the past three days and at least seven people have been killed in clashes between Morsi’s supporters and opponents.

A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi publicly rebuked the Maharashtra government over the alleged corruption in the Adarsh housing society issue, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday termed it as “contrived anger” and “manufactured dissent” for the sake of his image.”It was contrived anger. It was artificial anger to show that I am against corruption,” BJP leader Arun Jaitley said at a meeting of party workers here. Addressing a news conference after a brainstorming session with senior party leaders, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said: “As far as corruption is concerned, there is no question of protecting any one.” Gandhi also said the report on the Adarsh housing society allotments should be reconsidered by the Maharashtra cabinet after the Congress-led state government being run in alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party last Friday tabled a report on the alleged Adarsh Society scam in the state assembly and then rejected it. He also said the Congress was “serious against corruption” and appealed to the opposition to pass the pending bills to fight corruption, saying the Lokpal bill alone was not enough.Jaitley asked Gandhi why he did not speak when charges of corruption surfaced against the Congress government in Delhi (Commonwealth Games) and at the Centre (2G spectrum and coal mines allocations) in the past years. He demanded Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s removal as he was named in the Adarsh report. “Why no action has been taken against Shinde? He should be removed. Why no action against former Congress chief ministers?” Jaitley asked.

India has signed a Rs 4,000-crore deal with the US for procuring six more C-130J Super Hercules Special Operations aircraft for the Indian Air Force. The proposal was cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on December 20. The two sides signed the deal yesterday under which the US Air Force will supply the aircraft to the IAF through the Foreign Military Sales route. The IAF already has a fleet of six similar planes which are deployed at the Hindon air base near here and the force uses it for carrying out special operations including landing on inhospitable air strips in the Ladakh area. The IAF had acquired the first lot of six aircraft at a cost of around Rs 5,500 crore. The new lot of six planes will be located at Panagarh in West Bengal, which would be headquarters of the proposed Mountain Strike Corps of the army along the China border. The aircraft is capable of airdropping commandos and material in darkness due to its night-vision imaging. It can prove very handy in wartime due to its ability for special air operations and transport of material and supplies. It can be used in mountainous terrain in hostile circumstances. The four-engine plane with Rolls Royce engines has the technology and configuration to perform low-level precision flying.

When You Don't Want Someone's Opinion (But They Give It to You Anyway)!

"My mom thinks my dark mani looks goth and aggressive-and that's why I'm single." -Karisma, 27

HOW TO DEAL Reality check: "Your mom's worried about your single status, not your manicure," says Vivian Diller, Ph.D., a psychologist in NYC. It probably scares her that she's not able to control your future, and by blaming your looks, she feels she can exert some power over the situation. Instead of wasting time on a mani chat, talk about what's actually on her mind.

"My friends thought my hair colour was 'fading really strangely', but it was just my ombre." -Kritika, 24

HOW TO DEAL Taking risks invites attention-positive and negative. "We just tend to fixate on the latter," says Diller. Realise that others are likely admiring your confidence, and flip your focus. Many looks (like ombre hair) start off polarising, but end up mainstream, thanks to cool, early adopters like you.

"My dad hates my tattoo- he won't even look at it." -Amrit, 25

HOW TO DEAL "Some parents have a hard time accepting that tattoos aren't just for bikers or other tattooed crews from their day," says Diller. The permanence also scares them. "Unlike piercings and dyed hair, a tattoo isn't just a phase," says Diller. While getting the parents on board could be an uphill battle, discussing your tattoo's significance may help. Want to avoid the argument altogether? Conceal it with Bobbi Brown Long Wear Compact Foundation, Rs 3,010.

"I walked into dinner wearing a new dark lipstick, and my family laughed at me. Someone even asked me if I came from a costume party." -Ria, 22

HOW TO DEAL "Instead of walking away from this situation feeling humiliated, remind yourself that people often laugh when they're uncomfortable with differences," says Diller. Have your iPhone stocked with photos
of the style you're emulating and educate them.

"My parents always tell me I look 'ill' when I'm slim-and 'healthy' when I haven't been to the gym in months." -Roshni, 23

HOW TO DEAL If their bad eating habits are to blame, you may have to play the parent here. You don't have to get all preachy, of course-just tell them a salad-bowl-size serving of pasta actually contains almost all the calories you need for the day...or that you're banking the calories so you can splurge on late-night fries. Sharing nutritional facts, rather than giving in, isn't just good for your waistline, it's also great for theirs!
